From Round 1 2020 (opening in November 2019) grants will be made under revised funding areas that align with the Foundation's Vision for a Fair, Healthy, Sustainable and Vibrant Australia.

At the September 2019 Board meeting, the Governors of The Ian Potter Foundation approved the establishment of four funding pillars that align with the Foundation's Vision for a Fair, Healthy, Sustainable and Vibrant Australia.

Fair Early Childhood Development and Community Wellbeing

Healthy Medical Research Equipment and Public Health Research

Sustainable Environment

Vibrant Arts

While each of the above funding areas has its own grantmaking priorities and objectives, the Foundation’s funding principles remain; to support and encourage excellence, fund prevention rather than cure, seek to fund innovative solutions and ideas, ensure greater impact through collaboration and partnerships and cultivate leadership in the Australian social sector.

As a contemporary philanthropic foundation, we believe it is important to work in collaboration with other funders. We take a strategic approach to grantmaking to try to ensure each grant has the greatest possible impact on a particular problem, challenge or opportunity.

The Ian Potter Foundation continues to make grants nationally to support charitable organisations working to benefit the community across a wide range of sectors and endeavours.
