The Richard Divall Emerging Opera Artists Program

This is an intensive performance-ready program for emerging opera singers to develop critical language and performance skills via teaching partners, veteran singers and visiting mentors. The program will provide weekly language classes and music coaching, performance opportunities including roles in the Melbourne Opera season, concert performances and culminates in an annual production featuring the program participants.

Building the creative development of Tjanpi Desert Weavers

This project will deliver a creative development program for Tjanpi fibre artists in remote Western Australia over 3 years. Employing an additional Arts and Culture Assistant will enable the Field Officer to focus more strongly on creative development: facilitate an increased number of workshops for Tjanpi artists; manage artist residencies; seek and manage artistic commissions; manage collaborative projects; report on exhibition outcomes; and deliver artist public speaking training so that they may promote their artwork to a wider audience.

Dancenorth Artistic Capacity and Leadership Development Program

Dancenorth was awarded $220,000 over three years to deliver its Artistic Capacity and Leadership Development program. The program will facilitate an extensive suite of professional development opportunities for dance practitioners from across Australia to participate in Townsville, Queensland. The grant will support the core costs of delivering the program which include 3 Artist Residency in the Tropics (A.R.T), the Tomorrow Makers project, secondments for 40 young artists, and the opportunity for independent choreographers to work with the Dancenorth ensemble.

The Democratisation of Science Education

Cool Australia is a national web-based provider of environment and sustainability curriculum and teaching resources. This grant will enable Cool Australia to collaborate with leading environmental non-government organisations including ClimateWorks, EarthWatch and the Australian Data Science Education Institute, to create curriculum resources from evidence-based research findings particularly to improve climate change knowledge.

JUNCTURE: a program for mid-career critics

Sydney Review of Books was awarded $108,000 over three years to deliver the JUNCTURE program. JUNCTURE aims to build capacity and provide professional development for mid-career and established literary critics in Australia. Each year for the three years the Sydney Review of Books will offer three year-long paid house critic positions. The critics will write a series of longform review essays about contemporary Australian and international literature for publication online and in print. These essays will stimulate public discussion of literature and provide meaningful career pathways for literary critics.
