Signal Boost: Expansion of the Wheeler Centre Podcasting Fellowship Programme

Signal Boost will extend our current podcasting programme to provide mentorships for up to 10 podcasters annually over three years and produce three series pilots. It will include an intensive training programme for individuals and community groups, helping under-represented stories find - and develop - an audience, and provide further employment opportunities for established producers.

TEGA Evaluation

Funding to begin community consultations to pilot bringing Girl Effect’s TEGA program to two remote communities (Carnarvon and Broome/Derby). TEGA would train about a dozen girls (ages 16-25) to be Market Research Society (MRS) qualified researchers under a four-month accredited training process via a mobile phone app and conducting data collection to evaluate NGO/government/community programs.

In Focus Curators Forum

The Forum will be a professional development program for 15 curators, including both local and overseas curators. There will be a 4-day residential intensive as part of the 2019 and 2021 Ballarat Foto Biennale festivals. In 2020, two emerging curators will undertake a year-long mentorship, including a residency and the opportunity to develop their own work for the 2021 Biennale.

Delivering Diversity

On the back of the successful production of Counting and Cracking, the first main-stage play to be written and performed by an all-Asian cast, Belvoir plans to lead the theatre sector in delivering diversity. They will embed programming and producing culturally diverse work in the company; support CALD artists and place them in decision-making roles; and document the journey to share their experience with their performing arts peers.

WA Regional Arts Network

Country Arts WA plans to create a WA Regional Arts Network, to build creativity, capacity, and connection in and between regional communities and their arts organisations. Over 4 years they will establish 10 Regional Hubs, connecting regional artists, audiences and arts workers to enable better service delivery, improved communications, increased local decision making and coordinated planning. Integral to the project is the delivery of a Local Leadership program to build the capacity of artists and arts workers, and help them to develop skills in community engagement, fundraising, and relationship management.

TAFE options for remote community schools.

This grant will enable the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal to explore enabling remote schools to deliver TAFE qualifications and engage with local industry employment pathways.

The project will be implemented at the Wiluna Remote Community School in Western Australia. FRRR will review, document and evaluate the program and then disseminate via their networks including other remote community stakeholders.
