Below are some general tips and hints to assist you in preparing and completing the application process.

EOI & Application templates

To assist your organisation with the application process, on each Program Area page under 'Prepare to Apply, we have provided Word templates of the:

  • Expression of Interest (EOI) form (Stage 1) and
  • Full Application form (Stage 2).

Please note these templates are NOT the live forms.

All EOIs and full applications MUST be completed online via our grant management portal.

EOI forms (stage 1) will be accessible via a link at the bottom of the program area page when that program area is open for EOIs.

If your EOI is progressed to Full Application, you will be sent a link to access the relevant application form (Stage 2).

Grant writing tips

  • Please write in clear simple English - avoid jargon.
  • Acronyms - assume we don't know what they mean.
  • Ensure that your figures add up - check and check again.
  • Write in specific terms rather than generalisations - especially regarding track record and outcomes.
  • Please call one of our program managers if you are unsure about anything – don’t guess!
  • Don't try to fit a square peg into a round hole. We try to make our objectives and guidelines as clear as possible, so please read the funding objectives carefully to ensure your project is in with a chance!
  • It is worth reading our case studies and looking at our Grants Database to get a better understanding of what, how and who we fund.
  • Ask someone who doesn’t know what your project is to read the application before you submit it to ensure it is clear and easily understood.
