Malthouse 360 Artist Residencies

Malthouse 360 Artist Residencies is a new initiative of Malthouse Theatre. The residencies will respond to the global changes impacting live performance, through a blended site activation and digital engagement residency. Malthouse will employ a resident artist/creative practitioner who will work flexibly across the organisation, with a dedicated budget to employ artists, create content and activate the new outdoor site within the Malthouse precinct.

Collingwood Yards First Peoples Commissioning Fund

Impact enhancement grant to help fund a public artwork commission to activate the site. Collingwood Yards will work with Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation and their First Peoples Reference Group to commission an artist or artists to create original artworks for the public spaces at Collingwood Yards.

Little Sprouts Op Shop

This grant contributes to the lease of the Little Sprouts Op Shop & Café (LSOS), a social enterprise and training facility in Mildura, VIC. It will also contribute to the employment of the project officer who oversees the day-to-day running of LSOS, including managing employees and volunteers, and liaises with other local organisations to create education and employment opportunities for young mothers, Work for the Dole participants and volunteers.

ReStore

ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centres that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price. This grant supports the opening up of ReStore outlets in South Australia.

ReStores provide additional funding through the sale of merchandise to assist Habitat for Humanity to help more families and individuals into safe and secure shelter by building, renovating or repairing their homes or accommodation.

Additionally, Habitat ReStores benefit local communities by providing affordable merchandise to low-income families, diverting waste from landfills, and creating employment & volunteer opportunities for local community members.

Commercial Cooking Employment Pathway for People Seeking Asylum and Refugees

The Commercial Cooking Training and Employment (CCTE) project engages people seeking asylum and refugees who aspire to work in any commercial kitchen in Australia (e.g. in hospitality, events and/or catering) yet who are experiencing barriers to accessing secure, non-exploitative, properly remunerated employment.

The CCTE project launched with a 12-month pilot in January 2021 engaging a cohort of 8 participants with the intention to learn from and scale this project over the next 3 years. This grant supports an increased annual participant intake (within the full 12-month program) from 8 up to 20, within 3 years.

HoMie Capacity Building

This grant supports the development of HoMie, a Melbourne-based streetwear clothing brand, founded in 2015. A dynamic social enterprise, HoMie, applies 100% of its profits towards achieving its mission in supporting young people affected by homelessness or hardship to equip them with the skills, confidence, and experiences to be more work-ready and better prepared for their future.

GrowAbility Nursery - The Next Growth Phase

This grant supports GrowAbility in the next phase of its growth and specifically employ a part-time project officer to implement its strategy. The project officer will oversee the pathways and community engagement component, including delivering Learn Local courses in Introduction to Horticulture and Work Readiness for people with a level of impairment, school-based work experience and placements, volunteer projects and venue hire.

Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre - Social Enterprise Skills and Training for Jobs

This grant supports the Our Kitchen Social Enterprise (OKSE) at the Ballarat neighbourhood Centre. It is a workforce development program helping long-term disadvantaged job seekers gain the confidence and skills to find employment. Established in 2017, the program has an emphasis on supporting female, aged, multicultural, and disadvantaged jobseekers and is delivered in a safe learning environment at the Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre.

OKSE creates real work experience opportunities through catering for local community members, organisations and businesses.
