In April, Dr Alberto Furlan and Dr Squirrel Main were delighted to visit the Karinya Young Women’s Service in Tasmania to hear about Karinya’s successful Young Mums ‘n’ Bubs (KYM) program.
Especially as, in recent months, there has been increasing media attention on the causes of homelessness and how government and non-government sectors should be responding. So why do we should be pay attention on World Homeless Day?
Following a very busy funding round in April, and with applications closed in a number of program areas this round, a smaller number of high value projects were considered by the Board of Governors at our September meeting. Of a total $14,044,000 in new approved grants, $12 million has been awarded to three outstanding projects in our new Major Grants stream. Due to existing forward commitments some of these projects will receive first payments in 2018 or 2019.
In the core program areas, just under $2 million will be shared across 14 projects plus a further 34 grants totalling $134,000 in our Knowledge and Learning stream.
